Ms. Ana Enriquez 

Ms. Enriquez is our Special Education Assistant. She has done this for quite a while, so she is well versed in what is needed to support our students.

When she is not at work, she spends time with her family and listens to reggae music.

Ms. Judith Garcia-Arechar 

Ms. Garcia is our Dyslexia teacher. She supports our struggling readers and offers them multiple strategies to make their learning easier and can support in both English and Spanish.

In her free time she enjoys reading and listening to music.

Ms. Esmeralda Salazar

My name is Esmeralda Salazar, and I am the Resource Inclusion Special Education Teacher at Luella Merrett Elementary. I work with students in Kindergarten through 5th grade and am passionate about helping every child grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

I began my teaching career in 2023 and proudly joined the Luella Merrett family in 2025. As a teacher, I strive to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students can succeed.

I was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. Outside the classroom, I enjoy playing the violin, singing, painting, and exploring a variety of arts and crafts projects. I love bringing creativity and positivity into everything I do.

I am excited to be part of the Luella Merrett community and look forward to a wonderful year of learning and growth with our students and families! 

Ms. Alice Castro

Education: Bachelor’s in Social Work | Special Education Teaching Certification

I’m excited to serve as a Resource Inclusion Teacher at Luella Meritt! With a background in social work, I’m passionate about supporting students academically and emotionally while helping them build confidence and grow.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and going on walks.
